I'd be worried about the sun exposure, but as long as none of the kids felt coerced and there were no inappropriate actions by the adults (since you were there you'd know) seems fine to me.

Nine might be a little old for that... my 9 yr. old would rather die than get naked in front of a group. But then, I guess if the kids were comfortable, its ok. You were there, and so were the other parents. That's what makes it ok. Had you NOT been there, it would be different.

My sister has a pool at her house and it's always used by whole block. It's common "knowledge" that at anytime kids under 5 will be naked in the pool. Her kids learned to swim that way, mine did. All the neighbors kids.
Her pool is just so inviting. We are always there.

Since you were there watching, it seems okay. If my children came home and told me they had a nudist party, I would definitely be unhappy. But you were there.

I guess it's the ages that bother me, and the mix of genders. Yes, there was nothing sexual about it. But the 9 year olds are on the cusp of puberty.

why didn't the parents get naked and join in?

My daughters ages 7 and 5 recently were invited to a neighborhood pool party and one of our neighbor's homes. At first it was just a bunch of kids having fun. Then one of the young boys (maybe 3) stipped down to his birthday suit. Then more and more of the kids begin to do this. The parents there seemed to think this was just plain cute. I resisted until my girls were one of the few wearing suits. I finally let them stip down as well. The kids ranged from around 2 to 9 and were boys and girls. I was really uncomfortable with other parents seeing my girls naked, but the kids themselves had a blast. It was just good fun for them and there was nothing sexual about it.

Big deal? Was it bad that I gave in, or am I just being prudish?
