I wonder this too, because I have never bought or read a paper romance novel, but I've read a few free and KLL ones on my Kindle. I do not plan to pay for any of these, though.

Can you recommend the ones you liked from the amazon lending library?

I have sorted all the romances on my kindle in their own folder so they are double hidden - it's called "library books"

And I've read dozens on my kindle and maybe one dozen pre kindle.

I get all my reviews here: http://smartbitchestrashybooks.com/

I do, on my Kindle, in between my more cerebral reads. Total guilty pleasure. I find new ones via Goodreads lists/groups, Amazon reviews, and the website Smart Bitches Trashy Books.

I would definitely pay $1.99 for a new author, but I would want to read a sample chapter first to see if I like the style, and it's better yet if there's a good review by someone I trust, like SBTB or on Goodreads (or like 9 zillion reviews on Amazon, i.e., more reviews than an author can have friends...)

Good luck, OP!

Yes. I have found great reads on the Amazon Romance forum.

By looking at me (and knowing me) you would never think I read romance novels but they are my secret vice. I read two or three a week on my kindle because no one knows what I am reading. I like historicald and some modern.

+1 Reading romance (soft porn) on my kindle is my vice. Love the reviews, cheap, and I don't have piles of books with garish covers collecting dust.

16:55 Chances are I would not buy an author I had never read who had not been reviewed by someone I trust (usually meaning publications not authors, because there is a lot of logrolling with authors). If I was going to take a flyer on a book, it would probably have to be 99 cents.

Thanks PPs. Would you think $1.99 is reasonable for a writer you've never read before?

How do you search for books you like -- by recommendations?

I like reading those books on the kindle bcs I can read them on the metro without being embarrassed.

Honestly, time for reading to me is pretty precious, so I don't mind paying up to $10 for a kindle book if it's good, but I won't read something that's not good even if it's free.

Yup, I sure do! On my Nook. (Along with others) and partly is because they are cheap. You can buy them for $2.99 and under, which is all I think they're worth, but I enjoy them for that price!

It's ok, I won't tell

I'm wondering ... how do you find new books to read? What price do you like to pay for Kindle-only romance novels (big fat historicals)?

I'm asking because I have one in a drawer that I wrote many years ago, and I'm thinking of publishing it through Amazon as an e-book.
