I preferred it when the two categories (preschool and daycare) were split because it was easier to find posts relative to your needs. Ages 0-2 and sometimes 0-3 are always in daycare not preschool. When the forum was just daycare, it was much easier to find relevant posts rather than read about a place and then find out again and again that it only services preschool age kids.

There was some cross over for ages 3+ in the preschool/daycare forums as most daycares do some type of preschool component. What was nice though was that the posts about centers which provide only full day/full week options where in daycare while the centers that provided a options less than full week/full day hybrid mix (full day, half day, part-week, full week, before or after care options) were in the preschool forum.

IMO they should be together, as so many daycares morph into preschools eventually.

This is just the way things developed and, frankly, I have never thought about splitting the forum geographically. Initially, there were separate preschool and daycare forums and they were combined in order to have fewer forums. So, creating geographically separate forums would contradict that effort. It's something to think about I guess.

Perhaps this suggestion has already been made and shot down, but I always wondered why the Preschool and Daycare list wasn't split into three (one for DC, one for NOVA and one for MD). Not that everyone isn't welcome on all sites, it would just help to filter if you, for example, live and work in DC and would only be able to look at daycares there (or vice versa for the other states). Seems to work out for the schools forums. Just a thought.
