Why are you getting a dog, OP?

I agree with not tying the dog up outside businesses.

As for pet friendly, there are tons. Where in the city are you located? We might be better able to give you suggestions in your neighborhood.

Even if your dog is not cute and stealable, your dog has to be really docile to be willing to be left tied up. Unless your dog is extremely well trained, it won't be willing.

Is there a list anywhere of dog friendly businesses or restaurants that have patio service for people with dogs. I know Pete's Apizza in AU Park does patio service--any others? There should be lots and lots of them…

if i am walking my dog, is it OK to tie her up and run into Starbucks for 5 minutes?

does anyone know of a list of "dog friendly" businesses in DC? i see signs in the windows of some small businesses that say "dogs welcome" but i was wondering if there is a web site where this info is collected.

on a similar note, are there restaurants that allow dogs to sit on the patio/outdoor seating in DC?

thanks in advance for the tips!

No, do NOT do this. My sister's dog was stolen when she did that. She never saw him again.

Concur with pp. Do not leave your dog outside, esp if it's very cute. Too much chance of getting stolen, esp in DC.

Don't tie your dog up to run into any business. Your dog will get scared or may get stolen or hurt. What if another person walking a dog passes by? You need to be able to supervise.

As far as dog friendly businesses with patio service, there are tons. Just walk around and you'll see them.
