I would try to ask for a dift antibiotic. I took cedfinir and had the worst diahrrea ever. I ended up quitting the drug bc I just couldn't take it anymore and I know how bad it is to quit antibiotics. It was that bad. Sorry! (I've been fine on other antibiotics - some will give me a metallic taste, but I can deal with that.)

Try a different probiotic, they are not all the same. I have had the best luck with Nature's Way Reuturi (sp?) or Optima or other Nature's Way probiotics. You want a product that guarantees live cultures through the expiration date NOT just at the "time of manufacture".

Par for the course. Make sure that DD doesn't take the meds on an empty stomach. I just picked up cephalexin for strep today and the label says diarrhea may happen several weeks after finishing the medication. Ugh.

DD (6.5) is on an cednifir (sp?) for a UTI - this is the only option because she is allergic to bactrim and amoxicillin.
This is day 3, and she already has diarrhea...I hate to think what 4 more days will do to her system.
I am giving her the maximum dosage of probiotics (culturelle), 4 tablets per day and giving her yogurt as well.
Any other ideas? I imagine it's only going to get worse. I'll start the BRAT diet tomorrow.
Is this just par for the course with antibiotics? We've never experienced this before. Thanks.
