Decorating plan white onesies on the way in is nice - guests can pass by or doing something artsy if that's your thing.

Using yarn to guess the mom's circumference (you need a light hearted mama to be for that to work)

The only lame one I've seen is melted candy in a diaper - ewww

My best friend had this activity for my baby shower, and it was awesome. We got some pretty hilarious onesies; it was a couples' shower, and some of the male guests were the most creative.

They also did guess how big the belly is and guess how many jelly beans are in the baby bottle games. People just laughed about it all. We have pretty laid-back friends, though, so I think that was part of it.

I personally love any and all games.

I always like any sort of get to know other people game, unless everyone is already friends. The one where you have to find someone who has twins or something (make up the categories to stuff you know people in your group has) always works well in my opinion.

Please skip the games!!! We all hate them. We pretend to enjoy them, but deep down we just want to hang out and chat.

Don't do games. It's totally fine if you don't do games. Most people feel uncomfortable. If you're worried about filling the time, don't worry. Will the guest of honor open her presents at the shower (totally acceptable and expected in my family/friend circles)? If so, the time will be taken up by people arriving...getting food and drinks...opening gifts...chit chat...everybody leaves.

As a baby shower attendee, please skip the baby food and guess the melted candy in the diaper (so gross). I am also not a fan of the onesie decorating - maybe it's because I am not that crafty and I thought it was a waste of perfectly good onesies.

The only thing I ever thought was nice, was a quilt decorating activity. No, this was not in Amish land but in Clarendon. This really only worked b/c the hosts put a lot of thought and effort into it. They had all kinds of adorable pink fabric and such to put together quilt squares - shapes and things and letters so they didn't all look jacked up and awful - and we cut things out and designed our own little square for her and then we sowed (which was comical, but it worked) the little pieces on our square and then the hosts took it to a quilter who quilted the squares into a really cute baby blanket. The mom to be knew the sex and had picked a name, and the attendees where family and close friends who all got to make something really sweet and meaningful. I don't think this would work well for every shower, but it worked for this one.

I also went to a shower where it was set it so people could decorate plain white onesies. There was a whole range of sizes since newborns grow so quickly. Stencils were provided but lots of people got creative on their own. It was a great idea and lots of fun, and I say this as someone who has never enjoyed crafts.

+1. Some one did this for my shower and the baby lived in them for the first few months. Tip: Get 3-6 months sized onesies. Too big is better than too small.

I've been to lots of showers, all the games were stupid or just awkward. Skip the games, your guests will probably appreciate it!

The only game that I've ever thought was somewhat was was match the celebrity with the baby name. It's so awkward to "win" and have to receive a prize though.

Have any of you been to or hosted a baby shower that included some sort of "activity or game" that wasn't completely lame and made people cringe? Baby bingo is out and all that very dated stuff. I'm planning for a gf and would like to do something cute and more current that people would actually enjoy. Any ideas would be great! It's a lunchtime shower. Thanks!
