+1 on Stella's and Praline. I've heard Paul's is good, but haven't checked it out yet.
Is Reeves Bakery still on G Street in Metro Center area? Or did it get gobbled up? They had wonderful strawberry pie. I don't know if their desserts were "super fancy," but they were super good.

DC isn't the best place for nice desserts. If I were you, I'd hire someone to make some treats for you (maybe a SAHM) who would do it for a decent price (we had moms at my kid's Montessori School who made better desserts than French Patissieri's).
