Generally agree, although if I loved everything else about the house I might not mind having to put in a kitchen since we are quite particular about kitchens anyway. But I'd probably factor that in to what I was willing to pay.

It looks very cool, like things you would find at a high end European place. Unfortunately, people in DC tend to have fairly conservative / boring taste and it would not appeal to many buyers.

I think it's gorgeous and it would totally appeal to us. But, we have no desire for a SFH so we aren't your market. I would assume make my decision based on who you think the market will be for your home.

I could not function with kids in a kitchen like that.

I don't even get what it is. The multi-level thing would be a nightmare with young kids climbing and jumping. Very trendy and it would take the right buyer or someone with enough money to redo the kitchen before move it.

Yes, I think resale would be a big problem.

I would not buy a house with a kitchen like that.

Would not appeal to the majority of buyers.

It seems very "custom" - the buyer would need to get stuff that fits and looks good, etc. That said, I love it. Probably wouldn't be a deal-breaker for me.

I noted another poster mentioned Bulthaup - so I am curious. We live in a SFH in NWDC.

We are updating our old kitchen and we are exploring Bulthaup.

We are looking at the B2:

We love the pared down idea for ourselves but if I think ahead to resale value most people will be looking for a "kitchen" I presume.

Sigh.... we want what we will enjoy but we always think about resale value if for some reason we move in 5 years.

Would you say it would greatly reduce value to have this? It will have top of the line appliances built in but there will be no typical cabinets etc.
As stated the current old kitchen adds NO value so that would not be a good comparison. Our style is generally contemporary/modern so would not appear to more classic tastes but for those who like contemporary/modern may it appeal or is it just too out of the ordinary?
