So you would lie to people it's not real wood?

Vinyl. Many buyers will want to rip out carpet someone else has used for a few years, so I don't think you'd recoup your investment. Also, the house may show better with faux wood than with carpet.

OP here, I personally like the look of vinyl planks. It's also easy to clean and a good option since hardwood is too expensive. But we plan on selling in a couple of years so I'm thinking about resale value. I guess we should just stick to carpet?

Ughh, no vinyl please!! At least carpet is always easy to replace if a new owner hates it, sometimes vinyl can be a pain to pull up.

I would get a low pile carpet.

Vinyl is very offensive

Yes, Berber is more expensive than laminate. Any carpeting will be. But OP said cost was not a factor (other than hardwood being out of the equation completely.)

Isn't Berber Carpet a lot more expensive than vinyl flooring?

That is just not in the budget. It is between carpet and vinyl.

If the alternative is vinyl, I'd go with carpet. I like carpet in a bedroom, though. Lots of people here just hate it. For resale, I'd choose hardwood over carpet, but carpet if hardwood isn't an option.

Not which costs more, but which will help a house sell faster and at a higher price.

It is between carpet and vinyl plank (for a hardwood look)
