Agree and I'm the pp. Filomena's is so gross. I got food poisoning there on the salmon and would never go back! And, I live in Georgetown too.

In Georgetown, we like Ristorante Piccolo and Paper Moon across the street. Both have good food. We also like I Ricchi in Dupont Circle. I don't know suburban restaurents here sorry.

Paper Moon is some of the worst food in DC , we live in geogetown. I would recommend Filomena

Not the PP, but I cannot stand Filomena's. I'll never see what others recommend about it. IMHO, it's very over-rated. Have traveled to and around Italy many times. Filomena's reminds me of that old AV Ristorante. Yuck.

Despite the lackluster service, Al Dente (by crazy Roberto Donna) is very, very good.

FYI - gerannios or germanios or whatever in old town - actually, every italian restaurant ive been to in Alexandria, is disgusting. And Listranis is just like a family restaurant - nothing fancy.

I forgot to note that my friends from Italy/Sisley frequent:

Cafe Oggi (McLean)
Esposito's (Oakton)

I think the owner is the same (and from Italy). Esposito's is pretty good, so Oggi must be the same if not a little nicer.

I love Assiago in Bethesda and Bibiana and Filomena in DC. I'm not a fan of Listriani's.

go to little italy in baltimore. I havent found any impressive authentic italian restaurant in the whole DC area.

I will give a thumbs up to Arucola in DC though - great veal w/ red sauce OMG!! (but at least 1 owner is greek). So I guess I'd say go here.

We just spent a weekend in NYC, and ate in a very good Italian restaurant. So far we were not lucky with Italian food in DC area. Would you please recommend your favorite Italian restaurants in our area?
TIA!
