We are at Greenwood in Brookeville right next to belmont, and our K class was 20. But people love both schools. The overall area is great.

My son just finished K at Belmont. We love the school! There were 23 students in his class. Plenty of parent involvement and extracurricular activities for the kids. I believe a huge bonus is the size ~300 students. A great community where we all look out for each others kids.

Again, this is set by the county. Every public school in MoCo or Fairfax can get crowded. There is no way you can control the number of kids to enroll in your neighborhood.

As long as the teacher is good, I say go for it.

My daughter had 29 kids in her K class, but its the luck of the draw. The next year there were 23 or so. Individual schools don't really have control over the number of kids, the ratio is set by the county.

OP here: To the person who posted this - did you encounter issues or see any negative impact on your child's learning environment with such a high class size? Thanks!

PP here. Take a look at the link above. It looks like Belmont had 23 kids in K last year.

We're zoned for Sherwood ES, but I have tons of friends in the Belmont cluster who LOVE it!

lots of community support b/c it's in the Mill
relatively small at 300+

Elementary schools in Olney, Brookeville and Ashton are all fantastic, in my opinion. But you can always check out schools at a glance.
