In my kids (and myself) it usually comes from eating foods with a lot of dyes. Was the frosting a bright color?

Op here. I wish the green poop came from spinach! That kid doesn't touch spinach!

I'm trying to think of what he'd eaten yesterday; breakfast was a waffle. We went to a birthday party and he had some honest kids' apple juice, a few blueberries, maybe a couple of veggie sticks and a strawberry or two. Dessert was cupcakes from Cupcake Actually and he all the vanilla frosting and some of the cake part. Dinner was Mac and cheese from Noodles and Company. Not the healthiest of days but nothing green aside from a veggie stick or two (which he's eaten before with no issues). He doesn't get candy or Popsicles due to nut allergies unless it's a healthier alternative but in any case, he didnt have that yesterday.

There apparently is a stomach bug floating around daycare; I guess it could be that, with no other symptoms?

Green poop is caused by blue dye (the type found in candy, popsickles, etc.) Even just a handful of tiny blue treats or a blue dum dum lollipop can make a little kid's poop green.

Too much sugar causes green poop. Not something to be worried about.

It usually means its going through very very fast. Not a crisis, but keep an eye on it. You can call the pediatrician in the morning, but it's usually not a sign of something terrible. It's a weird color when you see it. However, I was shocked when DH said to sometimes happens to him. I'd never heard of green poop until I had kids and had to use Dr. Google in the middle of the night.....

OP here. No blueberries recently, at least not in big quantities. Before when he's had lot of blueberries, his poop comes out looking and smelling like a giant blueberry but not tonight.

So DH noticed tonight that our son has green poop. He said it was very obviously green, not just tinted. His poop has been pretty soft lately and he eats a lot of fruit, which could contribute to the softness. He didn't eat anything green yesterday or the day before.

Any idea? Should we call the dr. or wait and see? No other symptoms of anything at all.
