Can anyone share what's differentiates a diplomacy fellow from just a regular foreign service officer once you're hired? Do you get special training or special TDYs before your first posting? Or is it just a hiring mechanism that gets you in, but then you're the same as everyone else once's your in? Thanks for any tips! Also, what the average timing between getting hired and getting out to post for a new hire FSO? I know at AID, you've got at least a year of training/rotations to complete first and just curious if it's the same at State. Thanks for any insights!
