PenFed is woefully behind on processing mortgage applications. I think my 60-day lock expires today and they only ordered the appraisals last week.

Here's another source. Put in where you work, zip code (of where you work or live) and it'll pull up credit unions you can join

Check with neighborhood credit unions. Only criteria is to live in the county.

Many credit unions have some sort of affiliate program that lets you join. For example Pen Fed lets you join if you become a member of a couple of non-profits that support troops/military families. It's a one time fee of $20 or so to join those organizations.

I'm not in the military or in a union, so the obvious ones are out.

Is there any quick and easy way to know which ones I qualify for? I'm about to refinance and have heard that CUs often do a better job than large banks. Would appreciate recommendations!
