It's that important for you to feel that your child is superior?
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:OP--are you seriously hoping that 3rd grade teachers are going to flock to this thread and remember what numbers (not grades) kids earned?
Virginia third grade is letter grades. Not sure what ya'll are going on about regarding numbers.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:"Middle of the pack" doesn't really mean anything in terms of grades b/c the children in FCPS are graded based on how they satisfied the academic expectations. There is no longer a comparison with other kids in the class. But, to answer your question, I would think a child who is considered "average" would be getting "3"s -- as in mostly meets the expectations, but not all the time. A child who isn't really meeting the expectations as much as he/she should would be getting 2s and a child who is really out-to-lunch would get 1s. A child who is meeting the standards for nearly every assignment/discussion would get 4s.
It wouldn't surprise me if 80% of a class was getting 3's and 4's on a given subject. In that situation, I'm not sure what you would call "middle of the class." Middle of the class in some schools might be a "4" but middle of the class at other schools might be a "2."
What's this number stuff you're prattling on about? OP was asking about the letter grade A/B/C/D/F. You know, how schools actually grade.
