+1 for: Addie's, Passage to India, Ripple (if you want to go onto the District), and Black Market Bistro (like it much better than Black's -- cavernous and lacking in personality -- or BlackSalt -- pretentious and overpriced)

others to consider: Persimmon in Bethesda or Jackie's in Silver Spring

Palena and Grapeseed are way overpriced and not particularly good.

You can't go wrong with any of the Blacks Restaurant that PP mentioned.

I would also recommend Lebanese Taverna or Passage to India in Bethesda. Both will have plenty of meat and vegetarian options.

DC has the largest population of Ethiopians/Eritreans living out side of Ethiopia/Eritrea, so there are also lots of Ethiopian restaurants in this area too. They will have both meat and veg options. I don't have a specific rec though.

Ripple is terrific! Love love it. But the OP said MoCo; Cleveland Park is pretty well into DC.
I don't really get the love for Dino's. (Not just the PP, but in general. It seems to get recommended a lot here; I think it's overpriced and a bit of a snooze.)
I agree that Chef Geoff's is overrated, but that doesn't mean it's bad. I think it's good, not great. Good for groups; they have something for everybody.

Great Sage is worth the drive.

Seasons 52 on Rockville pike has great veg options and the menu changes with the seasons.

Grapeseed sometimes has nice veg. dishes but you would be pushing your budget.

You might consider going down to Cleveland Park for Dino's-- Italian (so lots of veg. options) and they are all about the local/seasonal ingredients. Ripple would also be a good option in Cleveland Park, but might push the budget.

I consider Chef Geoff's one of the more over-rated restaurants around, but YMMV.

If you're in Silver Spring, have a look at 8407 or Jackie's.

If you want to spend a little more and be a little fancier, the original Black's in downtown Bethesda is an excellent seafood restaurant. (Not limited to seafood, and you'll do fine as a veggie, but that's their emphasis.)

Black Market Bistro, in Garrett Park, or Addie's on Rockville Pike. Both are members of the Black restaurant group. Locally owned, locally sourced ingredients, great cooking. Fine-level food and service in an informal atmosphere.

Black Market, being off the highway in a residential neighborhood, is a little more charming. It's the front ground level of a huge Victorian that also contains the neighborhood post office and a small art gallery (well, art on the walls of the waiting area, anyway). The menus are similar and equally good.

New to the area, and looking for a place for an anniversary dinner. Under $100 for two. I'm vegetarian (no fish) but dh eats meat. Open to anything but typically love places with seasonal menus and locally sourced ingredients.
