This Discovery show was really great, too, but they dont' show it anymore. It's a vinyasa yoga workout that I find very useful. It's excellent for strengh, tone, and balance. It's beautifully shot and very soothing, too.

These suggestions for someone in OP's situation are somewhere between silly and potentially harmful.

+1

It's too much, too soon.

OP, if you want to start working out to an exercise video, I really recommend Gilad's Bodies in Motion and Gilad's Total Body Sculpt, in addition to walking or starting a Couch to 5k.

It currently shows on Discovery Fit & Health. I started on that after my c-section and really, really liked it. He is cute and charming.

Read Eat Right for Your Blood Type.that really helped me .it gave fitness advice too. i was stuck at 200 after 2nd baby took out gluten and lost 20lbs in a couple months. I still drank my Coke everyday and didnt exercise. This what I did so please do what you want but cutting out the soda only cut 5 additional pounds after I lost the initial 20.Are you local OP if so I highly recommend Kazaxe in Springfield it is soooo addicting and uber cheap.

Look into Leslie Sansone's "Walk Away the Pounds" DVDs. They're great to get you started.

Do you like pools? Water aerobics is low impact, fun, and a great way to get into exercise. Most community pools and YMCAs, etc. offer them for cheap prices (like $60 for 10 weeks or so).

I'm 5'7 and started at 227 and am now in the 180 range. It works (though it takes time).

Good luck!!

At 5'7' and 240lbs, this will SHRED your knees - get to a lower wait before layering in this.

Keep up with the walking - can you increase distance or duration?

What about Pilates - Mari Winsor has some videos that work on muscle tone - really hard at first, but not damaging at all to joints, etc. There is a 20 minute one that would be good to start with.

Walking is a good start. I would look into a couch to 5k program so you can slowly convert from all walking to all running, covering the same distance. If you do a c25k program it's generally an every other day walk/run, and you can do something else on the off days- lift weights, swim, etc.

Do you have access to a gym? Treadmill? Pool?

Agree about the diet. You need to cut back on your calories.

I would stick with the walking. Maybe add in a few more days of walking or walks for longer. You can also add in some body weight exercises. Like do some squat while waiting for the light to change.

If you are looking to lose weight then you really need to focus on your diet. Diet is 80-90% of weight loss.

I'm 23, 5'7, and 240 lbs. I need help with coming up with a good workout routine. For the past few weeks I've been trying to walk at least 3 miles between two and three days. I work as a nanny and I mostly go with the jogging stroller. What should I do next??? I can't afford a trainer...
