Thank you, pp! that was very helpful.

I found out that they are delinquent in paying their 2012 property taxes. they owed $25K, but they did pay half of it in May. Is this really alarming? Of course it's not a good situation, but doesn't seem sinister to me. Just seems that they are struggling right now. But I know nothing about this stuff, so I'd love to hear others' thoughts.

Pacer.gov is your friend.

Also try googling "tax assessor county" or something like that . You may have to go to the public records office.

I've been hearing many rumors that my daughter's dance company is in deep financial trouble. Don't worry - not in DC area. I was told by another mom that the info is available online and was discovered by another mom who is also a tax attorney. She mentioned something about tax issues, and said that all I need is the address of the building to get the info. Well, I'm usually pretty google savvy, but I have searched and searched and came up with nothing. And I have no way of getting in touch with the lady who told me this. I've also searched the name of the business, owner's name, and her husbands name. The only thing I found was on Bizapedia. Another family business in her name (looks like a development co.) has a delinquent status from 2005. I don't even really know what that means.

A LOT of families are jumping ship because of this. I don't want to get caught up in rumors and leave this studio that DD loves and has been good to us for many years. But I'm also about to fork over $1000 upfront for dance team. I really don't want to do this only to show up one day to "find the place cleared out" as these mom's fear. I honestly doubt something that dramatic will happen since the owners have roots in this area. IMO, there's a better chance that some vindictive Dance Mom started all this because she thinks her daughter wasn't getting the attention that she deserved or something.

Any advice on how to research this? Specific websites or keywords to look for?
