OP here. EA apparently has an 8 hour cream intensive lip repair balm (for $33!!!). Do you think this would work better than the original?

I got this idea from a facial I had at the Red Door Salon - the 8 hour cream feels great on lips! Good luck.

OP here. Thanks, all. I actually do drink water all day, but can try to drink even more. This all got started when I had what I thought was a cold and started taking a ton of Sudafed, but in reality, it was a bacterial infection, so all that Sudafed dried me out and didn't even make me feel better.

I do have various lip exfoliants, have brushed with a toothbrush, etc. I've done Vaseline, Aquaphor, etc, but can try the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream. I'm desperate!

I also suggest very, very lightly exfoliating your lips ( once they heal a bit) with your toothbrush. I recommend Aquaphor/by Eucerin in the twist top jar (it is the Vaseline like clear ...goop). Ahhhh this helps so much.

Coconut oil is my new solution to everything body-related, just like vinegar is my solution to everything cleaning-related.

I am one who uses Vaseline -- in fact, I suggested it up above in a previous post. But, as an aside: does anyone else wonder about the chemical consequences of putting this on their lips? (?) I don't know if it's totally fine, or absolutely a disaster! I do it, I put it on my DD's lips, etc. But, at the same time, I do wonder. Does anyone know? (?) Thx....

Rosebud lip balm always fixes it for me.

Drink more H2O and apply a generous amount of Vaseline on your lips every night prior to hitting the sack.

I promise...within 2 days your problem will be solved!!!!

Vaseline at night. Plain old chapstick during the day.

1 - drink more water. Seriously.

2 - lanolin before bed.

3 - I'd stay away from Blistex and Carmex. I think some of ingredients are actually a bit drying / irritating. Coconut oil, aquaphor or vaseline would probably do a better job of sealing in moisture. Use something with an SPF if you are going outside.

I agree, treat the internal problem first. Drink as much water as you can stand and your skin will become hydrated fairly quickly.

Put Vaseline (good ol' petroleum jelly) on the every night and every morning, religiously. They will soften up in no time.

My lips have become very dry and chapped, and they feel flaky and almost like there's something gritty on them. No matter what kind of lip balm I put on, or how much I scrub my lips, I can't get rid of this feeling. Usually this happens once a year and I use Blistex in the white tube for a couple of days, which clears it up. This time, it's been like this for a couple of months with no relief.

Suggestions?
