Subject: Alternative to ipod nano for running?
I just use different gadgets. I have my ipod (nano) and my Garmin GPS. I'm not sure I'd recommend the Garmin anymore, though - I'm on my third one and it's getting flakier and flakier about picking up satellites. (had the 201, 301 and now the 110 because the 4-series had too many bells and whistles and it was annoying.)

At first I was worried that holding the bottle would annoy me, but it really doesn't. With the handle, it just stays on my hand and I don't even really have to grip it--plus it's good to have a little hydration on hand, especially this time of year.

I gave up my smart phone by choice. I guess I have to find a cheap ipod nano, and couple it with a gps watch. Looked at the motorola active watch which coupled the gps watch with mp3 player, but it has been discontinued

Does your phone have the capability to play music?
I have a very basic phone (not a smart phone) that I can put music on, and is compatible with wireless headsets. I use that for my music.
For GPS, I found a Forerunner 305 used on Craigslist, I think I paid $40.
Yes, it's two different gadgets, but it's still not complicated, and it is what I could afford

I purchased an ipod nano this week end. It turns out it does not have an embedded GPS and the pedometer is not very precise.
