honestly, just looking at the other current thread (obviously for women) "Ladies...what's the worst trait for a guy" - leads me to believe a lot women could be considered high maintenance given the sheer endless lists and volume of pages that have been written.

Jeez, and you wonder why so many women can't find a man - there is no one who could possibly live up to such scrutiny and why would any sane man subject himself to that?!

A woman who nags and complains and is hard to please.

Men by nature are laid back and it can get very annoying to be around women who complain and feel sorry for themselves.

They are always too hot or too cold; your schedule must always be changed to accommodate their whims; they can't possibly take the metro because it is too crowded, or you have to leave the theater early because they feel tired, they make a big deal in the restaurant because they don't carry the type of bottled water they like.

Wearing high heels to a baseball game or bringing eye shadow on a camping trip do NOT automatically make someone high maintenance. It's about making demands on everyone around you to meet your needs. IF you wear the high heels to the game, but then complain the whole time that you now have mud on them, you're high maintenance. But if you wear the heels and have lovely time while you cheer your kid on, chat with the parents and pass out juice boxes with a smile, you're simply a nice lady.

High maintenance women can just as easily be found in Birkenstocks and no make-up.

Woman here (not that you asked). I think it has to do with how "demanding" he perceives you to be. I am also curious to know.

I have seen men practically worship fat wretches who may have once had a nice face, may make a lot of noise in bed, pretend they are the cats meow, but have a lower IQ than a sack of rocks. That would be hard for me to respect.

More often than not, such women are just looking for someone to subsidize a way of life that would make their nightmare mother happy. In reality, neither that nightmare wife nor nightmare MIL will ever be happy! I fondly more guys knew this!

I would find the social climbing, impossible to please, a sign of "run don't walk" - won't more women warn their sons of these shallow types!!??

The other thread got me wondering.. guys, could you define a high maintenance woman? Is it getting nails done and blow drying hair on a regular basis, or something body unrelated like having a housekeeper? I'd think most men like their women to look somewhat groomed. That involves some work. I guess I'm curious to hear what is considered being well groomed and where it goes into high maintenance territory.
