Not to hijack, but was your October DC bored? We are worried about that in AkZg next year for our early October DC.
DC never said he was bored but I also think the teacher taught the groups based on knowledge base. I think DC loved making new friends, going to lunch (picking out his own food), recess, etc. I think the first year is so new and exciting, that the school work part of it becomes secondary to the child. The social aspect had all the excitement.
I do have late born Dec DC that I do think will be bored especially being the 2nd child. The 2nd child seemed to pick up on things quicker having an older sibling to learn from. Both DCs are easy going at school / preschool so I think even the 2nd DC will just go with the flow and enjoy the social aspect as well.

For those of you who had kindergarteners pulled out, how advanced were your kids? Do you think your kid was truly gifted or just advanced? My friend's kid is pretty bright although I'm not sure if she would categorize him as gifted. But the fact that he was 1 of the 10 kids pulled out of 8 kindergarten classes clearly sets him apart from the majority. Just curious about the whole process and what I should expect... .. Thanks in advance!

It's based on the school, number of students, and staffing. Our school does NO pull puts until after identification.

You really don't understand what having a child who is truly gifted and has an insatiable need for knowledge is like, do you? For some of us it has nothing to do with status or parental pushing and everything to do with special needs. Please educate yourself on the Hoagies website and sengifted.org.

It varies from school to school.
Both of my kids received Level II (pull-out) services in K, 1st and 2nd grades. Even though my kids received Level II services at the same school, the pull-outs were very different even at the same grade level and for the same curriculum area. Therefore (in my opinion) the same services can not only vary from school to school but also from year to year.

Just wondering if any of you have/had kindergarteners that were pulled out for advanced services (Level I or Level II?)? We are new to the school system and wondering if pullouts happen in Kindergarten. I have a friend whose kid was pulled out this year. She got a letter in his backpack. I'm not sure if this is considered Level I or Level II.
Do all schools have this in kindergarten?
Or is this something that isn't widely known. I assume if everyone knew about this then they would all want their kids pulled out?
My friend said there are about 10 kids pulled out amongst 8 kindergarten classes, so I assume it's very selective.
