What a tough situation! I experienced this as well, I know this may sound completely out of question - but have you considered not going on meds?

After learning about all the side effects, it really made me realize I didn't want that going on my skin and into my body. It's such a hard situation because, when it's on your face - it's the worst feeling in the world.

Op here. I get cystic acne so nothing works that well on thise bad boys in general. But I also have all these little ones so I just hope the Er works somewhat.

I actually do not like facials. After I get them my skin is worse than before. I have sensitive skin and I have and countless facials and none have impressed me much after.

Erythromycin worked beautifully for me and quickly also!

PLEASE do not assume from a lack of contrary statements that your OB has thought about and approved all the drugs you disclosed to her. She absolutely should, of course, but many OBs are perpetually distracted and don't focus on stuff like this unless you specifically ask questions. In this case, Differin is pregnancy category C, meaning that the drug has shown an adverse effect on the fetus in animal reproduction studies and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans. You should get to a dermatologist and seriously consider a safer alternative.

Honestly none of the prescript cream ever worked for me. Go to a facialist on the reg and get some deep extractions done. On top of that I used Neova cleanser twice a day. Hormonally speaking, this was really great (aside from being super sensitive due to the pregnancy and the extractions KILLING.)

I have differin and my ob hasnt said anything bad about it.

+2 for Azelex - I used it during both my pregnancies. I actually like it better than Retin A - and have stuck with it even 2 years aftoer baby 2 was born.

OP here. Thanks for the recs. Unfortunately since I did not get a script from Azelex cream I am going to try the Erythromycin. Hopefully it helps some!

+1 on the Azelex cream.

Here's what I used through first pregnancy:
Erythromycin topical
Azelex cream (category b)

This pregnancy I'm also using a nonprescription but dermatologist- provided sulfur treatment and salicylic acid each, both of which have been great.

I hear you mama - good luck! Mine cleared up with the meds and by the end of the first trimester I didn't need them anymore. I got more compliments about my looks in the second trimester of pregnancy than I've ever had in my life. It'll pass.

I used erythromycin and it was fine. Better than being covered with acne all over my face, neck, back, shoulders and chest. Literally. I was like a freak show. Sorry little baby, but mama still has to work and look like a professional. It was OB approved; I didn't worry and there were no effects on my child. Go for it.

I was just given a prescription for acanya gel or erythromycin to use for my pregnancy acne. It was ok'ed by my OB but the acanya gel is class C which means they dont know the side effects on a fetus and the erythromycin is a B which is that is is "ok" to use.

In any case, although they were approved by my OB, has anyone else taken one of them and which would you recommend or not recommend?

I am still debating on using them but my face is horrible right now!
