Have the protein level in your urine checked, this is a sign of a kidney issue as well.

Thank you all! I agree - I should get it checked out. I drink too much regular soda and not enough water or cranberry juice. I'm starting to realize that I need to take better care of myself as I am close to 40... the stuff I did when I was in my 20s and had no symptoms isn't cutting it anymore...

My mom always has traces of blood in her urine. She has interstitial cystitis which was diagnosed by a urologist.

Unfortunately, she is pretty much always on macrobid for the condition.

You might not have this but definitely see a urologist about the issue. They will probably want to go in and do a cystoscopy to see what your uretha is looking like.

I had trace amount of blood in my urine during my first pregnancy. They kept checking me for a UTI which I did not have. My second pregnancy I had it again and then around 6 months I had full blown killer kidney stones with lots of blood/pain. I think pp is right that it could be a precursor to kidney stones and can be diet related. I cut back on soda and ice cream. Also drink more water and cranberry juice. Especially stay hydrated in the summer.

When this happened to me at a regular GYN check-up a few years ago, he referred me to a urologist, who did a cystoscopy. He found some crystals in my bladder that could be precursors to stones. He recommended drinking lots of water and decreasing salt consumption. This seems to have done the trick b/c subsequent tests showed no trace blood in my urine. I think it's always good to have these types of things checked out.

Please ask a urologist or press your doctor for more information. Not to scare you, but my dad had bladder cancer discovered this way (i think it was more than trace).

OP I have the same issue. Has your doctor actually sent your samples out for a lab analysis, or just used the in-office test? Mine always shows trace signs of blood in the office test, but there is no blood recorded when the do the more sophisticated lab test. My urologist thinks I just have some chemical in my urine that tricks the in-office test. Ask your doctor to send it out for testing.

For the past year, every time I see the doc and leave a urine sample (about 4 times) it shows up with trace blood. Doc doesn't seem overly concerned but I am starting to!

Anyone else have this? What to do about it?
