Absolutely no sugar, wheat and gluten.I was told my body doesn't "recognize" them and they become fat.
At 5'7" and 125, I still had fat around my waist.

I have the same problem. I only lose my belly fat when I completely cut out wheat and refined sugars. I notice a difference after about a week. I did the 30 Day Shred and noticed that helped too--more than just running, which is my preferred form of exercise. With my skinny legs and arms, I basically look pregnant all of the time if I give in to my carb cravings. Sucks. I had a friend do an unintentional double-take the other day when I declared that DH and I are totally done having kids and definitely aren't planning for a third. She clearly looked at my carb bump and thought my dinner invite was an announcement. LOL.

My wife has the exact thing going on with the belly fat and is not cubby. Of course she won't really listen to my advice on how to specifically reduce the fat, but she's joining a gym to take classes: yoga, zumba and the whole 9 yards so that's a step in the right direction. I workout regularly for years (lift weights) and what I suggested to her was do lose fat and lift weights.

By lifting weights, not only will it transform your body but your abs will get tighter and improve other problem areas, i.e. cellulite. She has a busy schedule but if she does it 2x a week, that will be enough (more is optimal) one for cardio and the other weights. Shed some weight first and then add muscle, eat right- a surefire way to lose belly fat and look great. Go heavy when you lift no pink dumbells.

You have a very unique situation. Not sure how you can lose thay fat eating a lot of carbs even if in the form of beans and whole grains. I eat vegan 2 days a week, but if I did that daily I would be flabby with no muscle mass.

eating protein is always a good thing. It helps repair and build muscle.

Lots of cardio, cut out sweets, high sodium, and high carb diets.

You have to lose overall fat to lose belly fat. Abs are made in the kitchen! Your only option is a change in diet.

You can't spot reduce fat. It happens where it wants. Just look up fat burning exercises and methods. (HIIT is the current biggie)

What is the most effective way to reduce belly fat? I'm not chubby, but I have this "rubber tire" thing of chub all around my midsection. I do a lot of core strengthening which has helped me get stronger but its not making the chub go away. Should I increase my cardio?

It's like all the fat on my body decided to collect in one place. It's annoying.
