Isn't there a happy medium between undermining supervisors and letting a project fail?

For example, can you meet with the decision makers (or the people below them but still above you) and make some suggestions? Don't just suggest that you take over, but don't just let an opportunity to make a valuable suggestion fall away...

90% is in HOW you phrase the thing - "What about if we [awesome suggestion by humble you]?" Gives them the chance to make the argument as to why not, of which there probably isn't much of one if your experience is right.

I am used to being the lead and the decision maker but left to pursue a more work balanced position.

Currently I completely disagree with the approach taken and believe the decision makers are making mistakes that will cause the project to fail. The decision makers don't have any experience in what they creating and it is their first time doing it. (I have done this multiple times failing early on but succeeding later in my career)

What would you do? Stick it out and keep your mouth shut and watch it fail? Or speak up and be noisy to management but undermine their abilities. The decision makers are not more senior or above me but are on a different team that is tasked to develop the next phase of the project.
