I had checked out foodtruckfiesta and seen a ton of trucks at L'Enfant. My parents are in their 70s, so I was hoping I could get lunch taken care of as soon after we finished at Capitol Hill, before getting on Metro for Smithsonian (and then beginning the abundance of walking).

ALSO, I noticed (and was horrified) that I misspelled Capitol 3 times in the title and my original message. Thanks for still answering my question (and not calling me an idiot)!

You could always have bad Mexican food at Tortilla Coast.

if you are looking to keep everyone happy consider going to the food court in the postal museum at 10th and Constitution.

The closest the food trucks come to the Mall is L'Enfant Plaza or the National Archives. Each day you can see where the trucks are on foodtruckfiesta.com. It's impossible to know which truck will be where on a given day; some have semi-fixed schedules, but they can get thrown off by parking issues, weather, etc.

Rarely are there food trucks by Capitol South, they usually congregate by the Navy Yard Metro stop.
Usually 5 or 6 of them on any given day.

Not a food truck, but Mitsitam Cafe in the American Indian museum is unique, with plenty of choices to keep people of any age happy.

Not sure I've seen any near the Mall, ever. They're concentrated more in the CBD near office buildings. Not sure about Capitol Hill but seems like they wouldn't be welcome near the Capitol itself due to security concerns.

What Food trucks are typically near Capital Hill (Capital South) or anywhere on the Mall on a weekday?

We're planning a "be a tourist in your own area" day and I'm trying to plan for lunch for 3 generations.
