I'm not the OP, but I find this reply so annoying. First, there are starving people in the world, so it's really not something to joke about. Second, give me a break. Your child will not die if she eats a few goldfish once in a while. I think people have gone completely overboard with the healthy eating. My second grader comes home talking about how friends at school are discussing calories (no joke), chemicals in foods, the evils of white bread, etc. Can we please all just teach our children moderation? IMO, this is worse than letting kids eat crap. Food should be about sustenance. We eat to live, we don't live to eat. We should strive to eat healthy foods (fruit, vegetables, etc.), but some junk once in a while is fine as long as it's in moderation. Even more importantly, I hope that parents teach their kids to keep their ideas about eating to themselves. Maybe a kid eats white bread because of allergies to the grains, nuts, etc. in wheat bread?? Maybe a kid is underweight and would actually benefit from a bag of potato chips?? Just like it's rude to comment on people's looks, clothing, etc., it's rude to talk about others' food and eating habits. So if you think goldfish, chips, and bunny crackers are so bad that you'd rather your daughter starve then eat them, fine, but please keep that opinion to yourself and tell your DD to keep it to herself too.
