You should go to the SWW info meeting this fall. It was so, so sad. So many desperate parents trying to get a decent education for their children. Now that Wilson no longer accepts OOB students (and will probably me majority white in the next 10 years), I feel for parents who are just trying to help their kid.

I think 5th will go through most of their waitlist. I think a lot of ppl already get into a school (like BASIS or decide to stay at their current school for 5th), but don't bother removing their name from the waitlist. Don't think it will be the same for the other grades, their WLs may not move that much.

We turned down a spot for 5th and we were somewhere around 40 on the waitlist.

BASIS, but they also have a waitlist.

This city needs more good options like that.

Wow, I am truly surprised by the 9th grade waitlist numbers.

Do a search on these boards, it is all here. Feeling too lazy to dig up the numbers for you

Quote from another thread:

Just saying that Latin wait list for 5th has been around 30 kids and they did go through til the end. This year the wait list grew by a lot to 130 names on the list. Yet to be seen if they make it to the end of that list or how many comers are left without a slot ( used to be whoever entered the original lottery eventually got offered a spot ). Open question this year.

Can anyone please give me a general sense of Latin admissions/wait list trends for the entry year, 5th, over the past couple of years?

Thank you.
