I received a check for $8.23 too. I didn't remember filing any papers for an AX either. I looked through some old papers and found a class action suit: Ross et al vs. Visa, Mastercard, Diners Club for a currency conversion fee antitrust lawsuit. The original letter is dated 11-23-07. The check is legitimate. Cash it within 90 days or it is void. This is the original website that you filed the claim: www.ccfsettlement.com If you read it, American Express was also sued. I'm cashing it and will buy a coffee with it.

I had to research this too - it's a class action suit against all the major credit card companies for hidden foreign transaction fees. I remember doing the paperwork on it years and years ago.

Basically, if you used your credit card for a non-US purchase during the period covered by the suit, you might get a check. Not a big one but I won't complain about a little surprise windfall

We got a check for $300+ about 2 months ago. Cashed it. Nice since it wasn't expected.

Here's some information. Seems it is a genuine check in payment of this settlement regarding not just AmX cards, but also Visa, MC and Diner's Club cards.

I got one and I've never had an American Express card. Seems very odd to me.

You called the police? Awesome. Way to waste valuable resources.

When did you get the check? I actually do remember filling out some paperwork and haven't gotten a check.

For class actions, you are a member of the class unless you opt out. I would definitely cash it. You'll only help American Express if you don't.

You don't have to have participated in the lawsuit to receive a check. If you were a class member, you benefit.

I just got a check for around $20. It looks legit enough. I google it and it seems to be legit. I can't remember joining the lawsuit though.

Does anyone know anything about this?

Thanks!
