I was the same - got pregnant literally on the first try with #1, ended up having to have a C, and ran into a wall TTC #2.

No matter what the forms say, they don't seriously believe there's a risk until it actually happens, then somehow you're a statistical anomaly, when here are several of us posting about scar tissue from these "routine" procedures.

I agree with you about the casualness. And it's strange b/c something like 30% of women get scarring post-D&C (can't recall exact stat).

I highly recommend getting a hystersocopy instead of a saline sonogram to diagnose scarring. It is considered the gold standard, and other techniques may miss it (they did in my case). Luckily once my scarring was ultimately diagnosed (had to switch REs after 3 more failed IVFs), and I'm now 9 weeks (on my first IVF post-surgery).

I just had a D&C and I will also be having a saline sonogram to make sure there's no damage--I HATE how casual doctors are about these procedures, as if there's no risk.

I have no idea if it was because the surgeon sucked, but the bottom line is you have no recourse anyway because you sign a consent and release form so the hospital/doctor is untouchable anyway. And it's not like suing the surgeon would solve my problem - though it would certainly cover IVF if it got to that point. Moot point anyway though.

To answer your other question, not really. Ever since my first was born sex has been less enjoyable than it ever was before an often painful during intercourse. My OB told me this was normal and would get better over time (it hasn't, years later). Now I'm realizing that the internal scarring may have something to do with discomfort/pain during sex. We've been trying for almost a year with no success and finally decided to seek out diagnostic treatment. Now we have our answer.

Did this happen because of something your OB did incorrectly during the c-section or does it just happen? Also, did you know anything was wrong from the c-section before you TTC or did you only find out after you started trying? Thanks-

You, too! Fwiw, my one tube was crazy looking - totally twisted and turned around from the scar tissue. During the surgery (but after the adhesions had been removed) my surgeon tested them and they were still blocked. Went back in 6 week after surgery and they were not blocked. So, try not to worry too much.

Just found out through an HSG that scarring from my c-section with my first child is blocking my tubes resulting in secondary infertility. So much for my OB's assurances that scarring and impacts on future fertility are rare and that I shouldn't worry. Of course I thought I would have no problem like many other women I've known with multiple C's. I am just so furious and wondering why I have to be one of the rare women this happens to.

Any ladies out there have success stories about conceiving naturally after laparoscopic surgery to remove scar tissue? My fear is that it won't work and that my only option now will be IVF which I honestly can't really afford.

And please, no posts admonishing me to be grateful for my first child. That is a given. I'm not looking for a fight, just information from other women who've dealt with this. TIA
