water babies pure & natural. pretty cheap and it received good reviews in terms of toxicity.

Another fan of Blue Lizard. My DD has really sensitive and very fair skin and it is great. Also, it's not too thick so I can get it rubbed in pretty well. Even my older kid doesn't mind it and will sit still while I apply.

FWIW aerosol is particularly bad because the kids ingest it more readily (in case people are not aware).

We use the Alba stuff for older DS and BabyGanics for the baby.

And try to keep both as covered as possible! I hate sunscreen.

Blue lizard sensitive is the best. I hate California baby.

For short periods of time in our bug buffet of a backyard or local park, I like Bullfrog with the insect repellent. Our yard and the park are on the shadier side, so I feel we don't need a ton of SPF.

Places where we're out a long time or somewhere sunny, like a pick your own farm or the beach I like Kiss My Face Sport Spray SPF 50.

Blue Lizard Sensitive - When DS was younger, he would break out in a rash with sunscreen. It would look so bad, it actually looked like he had a sunburn every time we put sunscreen on him -- which made for great comments from nosy people telling me my kid was burning and that I needed to put sunscreen on him. Anyways...We switched to Blue Lizard after a friend recommended trying it out, and he has never gotten a rash with it. I switched over to it as well and even though it is thick, it offers great protection, even while swimming.

We use it because it got a really high rating on the EWG's safe list and it works well, whereas I heard bad things about thr Badger brand. My only complaint is that it's hard to get out of my husband's beard.

I just started using Coppertone Sensitive Skin. Seems to work well, it's not greasy, zinc-based, but goes on better than what we used before (Aveeno's kids sunscreen -- which also worked for us, but we needed to get a sensitive skin formula for other reasons).

Blue Lizard Sensitive. Have to rub it in, but it provides GREAT coverage. Its a physical barrier and not a chemical one.
...aerosol sprays really aren't a good idea for kids (they're not allowed at all at our preschool).

Same as PP, Water Babies. Our whole family uses it. But we're pretty pasty to begin with

I feel guilty about it -- but just plain ol' water babies aerosol. Gets the application done without any tears and we have never had a burn.

I use this. Not sure why the reviews are so poor because it works great for us.
