Ugh. Hopefully I won't have to be in a position where I have to cough up $1k to *maybe* get a job.

Having been on the hiring side of this, I'd say it might mean you aren't their first choice but they aren't counting you out. Maybe they have made an offer to someone else who has not yet accepted their offer. Or there are just multiple levels of approval and lots of vacations.

They are supposed to let me know either way (whether it is a yes or a no). I do have several more applications that I've already submitted and I'm working on 3 more.

Its actually for a school (field of deaf ed, elementary teacher position). Unfortunately, when you go to interviews you have to pay your own way (hotel, airfare, etc) so its not cheap!

Let me guess, it's for a big company. They take forever to get anything done.

This is why I like working for startups -- you can interview on a Tuesday and be working by Friday.

Thanks, PP. The position is supposed to start on July 31st, so I'm expecting they will want to hire someone soon (hopefully!)

When I went for the interview, there were only two of us interviewing for the position I had applied for. But, I think they are doing rounds of applications/interviews so its possible they won't choose either of us and will choose someone else from another round.

My DH has just gone through this - most positions made him wait for weeks or months before sending back negatives. The job he was finally offered dragged on the interview process for 6 months. He's mid-level in biomedical research, where funding for personnel is tight right now.

While our friends have not waited quite this long, all of them have had to wait at least three weeks for an answer (mid-level jobs in public relations, and museum/library).

Just a vent. I feel like I've been on pins and needles for the past few weeks. Its making me crazy!

I'm not sure if I will actually get a job offer. But I had a phone interview then an intensive in person interview for a position out of state. I was supposed to know a week after the interview, and they contacted me to let me know that they were calling references and would be in touch once they completed that step. They contacted me again to let me know they were having some issues reaching my references, so I provided some assistance and some additional people they could contact. Then followed up several days later with an email thanking them for their patience and apologizing for it taking so long.

Its been almost 3 weeks since the interview. I'm still waiting and second guessing every bit of communication I've had with them. I'm currently unemployed so this is a big deal, which makes the wait (and the anxiety) even worse. I have to actively try not to check my phone and my email every 5 seconds. If all this culminates to a "no" instead of a "yes" I'm going to be really bummed.

First world problems, I know. Anyone else have a LONG wait after an interview to find out the result? What was the result?
