I would go with Key as well, good experience so far

Thanks for your response. I went to see Claremont last week and they told me about the feeder schools but they said their policies will change next year so they no longer know what areas will qualify as feeders. My son is only 4yrs old and still needs to go one more year to preschool so I want to live nearby Claremont just to guarantee a spot next year (Even though we are moving to the area this year, he is not old enough to go to Claremont this year and their preschool program is already full) I do not want to send him in a school bus that is another reason why I need to live close by.

I don't know about Claremont but I personally know one of the K teachers at Key and she is both an excellent teacher and lovely person.

Yes, if the class is not filled (but the fact that your DS is fully bilingual) is a big plus. You should contact the school to find out more -- and yes, the county provides bus transportation to kids in the immersion program if they live more than a mile or so from school.

DS is fully bilingual, but we'll have to reside in housing that will put us in Taylor's boundary. Can he be admitted and will the school provide transport?

The area around Claremont is more diverse. At least for Claremont, you do not necessarily need to live right in the neighborhood to get admitted. Each immersion school has a number of feeder schools from all over the county if you don't mind your child taking the school bus. You might want to check with each school to see if they are filled or not. If your child already speaks Spanish, s/he won't have trouble getting admitted in any case. We're at Claremont but don't live right by the school -- great place!

We are moving to DC area this coming August. I really want to put my son in an immersion program when he starts kindergarten. I went to see Oyster-Adams in DC and did not like the school at all so we later found Claremont Elementary School in Arlington which I absolutely loved but now we are having a hard time finding a house for rent in that area so we may end up living nearby Francis Scott Key which I also visited and liked but less than Claremont. What school is better in your opinion and why? Also what area do you consider is a better area to live near Key or Claremont? We are a family of 3: My husband is white, I am mexican and my our son is a 4yr old.
