Chubb all the way. We use them for our jewelery as a separate policy than our homeowners (Travelers). Lost a Rolex, made a call, paid overnight. No questions or issues. I have been told they really only ask for any real details at high value items like $25k+

I am having to make a claim regarding a piece of jewelry, and the loss is unquestionably covered. However, the insurance company is giving me the run around and insist they have to conduct a background investigation into my husband and me before they will pay the claim. Yes, in the abstract, it was an expensive piece of jewelry. But it was a gift to me from an extremely wealthy person, and my husband and I have a very healthy HHI and don't need to resort to insurance fraud to cover our bills. I have other jewelry that is also insured and I didn't make a claim for that (including one more expensive piece). I want to find an insurance company that doesn't think every claim over $20 is fraud.

As a fraud investigator, you are exactly the kind of person (HHI, etc) that actually commits insurance fraud. Educated and wealthy can be criminals too.

I have a separate rider on some of my jewelry. Might be worth looking in to that for valuable pieces. But it sounds like the insurance co is just doing its job to prevent possible fraud.

Agree with Chubb suggestion. Just note that their premiums tend to be higher than others. Also note that insurance companies do take into consideration whether you've made a claim in the past five years when considering your application request/premium.

You are a piece of work, OP.

And you should expect a background check for major claims anyway.

If you're really that high income, you need a solid financial planner should and can recommend a good insurer for home, auto, and umbrella. It hardly makes sense for anyone to have separate companies, especially if you have a lot to lose from a liability perspective.

Your post does reek of self entitlement.

Jesus tap dancing fucking Christ, you self entitled cow. You think that because you have a good HHI your insurance company shouldn't be wasting your time investigating a claim?? But if your income was lower, presumably, it would be OK?

Fuck you and the horse you rode in on.

What does your income have to do with anything? I highly doubt any insurer would have different procedures for people who seem like they don't "need" to resort to insurance fraud.

Are you leaving this insurance co because you don't like the way they're treating you, so you're looking for a new insurance co that won't treat you similarly in the future? Is that the issue? Your post isnt entirely clear.

I think all ins companies are like this with jewelry. It is such an easy fraud to commit.

What happened to the jewelry?

OP - try Chubb but not sure what good it will do if you since the "crime" has already happened.

Frankly I think its an odd question on your part. If you have nothing to hide then you should have no problem with the insurance company looking at every nook and cranny of your life....or just don't file the claim otherwise.
