Well, I did what your friend did. We ended up moving a lot earlier than planned, and basically rushed to pack and get out of town for our cross country moved. I didn't see a lot of people to say goodbye in part because I was having a really hard time with the transition and the few goodbyes I did were really difficult. So, not an end-of-friendship moved, but perhaps a disorganized and cowardly move.

I had a "friend" who moved into my apartment building w/out telling me. I literally bumped into her in the elevator one day! (And, that is how I found out.) Needless to say, we are not friends anymore, and she has since moved out.

Some people are just flaky, have poor coping skills or disorganized.

We just moved away after being in DC for 30 years (moved to DC when I was 19). DH was native DC as were both kids. Leaving was sad, exciting, scary and somewhat overwhelming. We moved fast (job offer early Feb, move end of March). I know we forgot to say goodbye to some friends. I feel awful about it, and I'm slowly reconnecting with them. Maybe there was no harm intended but she got caught up in the move. Juggling wrapping up one job, starting another, moving schools, etc. it's crazy. Maybe send her a short email wishing her well in the new home and suggesting you stay in touch. If she never writes back then yes, she's ending but give her a chance, she may have just been crazy busy.

Hard to say. I had a friend do this, too, and she is still friendly to me on FB. I have decided she is just flaky.

Title says it all. A friend, whom we used to be close to, kids played together, etc. moved and never said goodbye. They had a lot going on, but still it seems weird to leave town for good and say nothing, do nothing. Is this a no-longer-a-friend kind of move?
