Yes. I always do.

I always wash them in a salad spinner. The effort is minimal.

Always, always!

My former doctor told me that bagged lettuce and carrots is a big cause of food borne illness.

We have a salad spinner. If I am at a place that doesn't have one, I use the colander and then clean towels to dry the lettuce.

I washed the triple-washed spinach from Costco and found that the water was grainy.

My question to everyone is how do you wash your salad? My in laws wash their produces (bok choy, other veggies to stir fry by running them under the faucet and I always find their dishes gritty.

If the lettuce were really contaminated with bacteria it's unlikely washing would avoid problems.

I wash them, since it seems there are recalls every couple months.

Almost always wash it before serving...why not?

Wrong. A friend of mine throught this. I picked up the bag and showed her where it said right on the bag "wash before serving". Salmonella. It comes from the water.

No, that's the whole point of buying a bagged salad.

Not sure why you need convincing. If it's good enough for you, isn't it good enough for your kids? And vice versa? Sounds like you already have an opinion on that front.

I like to mix several different lettuces and spinach, so I tear, wash, spin, and store in a large ziplock with a paper towel for excess moisture. Then just grab a handful for salad whenever I need it.

No. I can't see that 1 more wash is going to make any difference.

It says triple washed, but I re wash when it's for my kids, but not if its for me or dh.
Convince me one way or the other.
