PP here and IT parent. I heard that 1 teacher is leaving. This kind of information is hard to get and may be inaccurate as teachers take offers this time of year.

Regarding the job comment. Asking about teacher retention is information gathering about the school-the reason, not about teachers seeking jobs.

Well, sure, but DCUM isn't a resource for teachers who are interviewing for jobs. And it seems that despite the many visitors to this thread, nobody seems to have any information about staff who are leaving, much less the reasons for any departures. Like others, I wonder what the OP is fishing for.

The resident teachers leave each year as a part of the program. OP seems to be asking about those staff members who were expected to stay. I think this is reasonable information to ask about and a beginning of a potentially useful conversation about the school including the reasons for retention/loss. Yes, 50% of the teachers every year will leave because they are RESIDENT teachers. The intent is for them to take what they've learned to other public schools.

I'm the first responder above. Not wanting to talk about teachers on a public forum does not mean IT has something to hide. Why single out IT teachers in a forum like this? Why not ask them yourself? They are all pretty wonderful and have nothing to hide. Again, my concern is gossip. To air a teacher's future plans on DC Urban Moms is absurd and not in the spirit of building community. There are no "staffing issues" at IT; they hire and support very well in my opinion.

I am in IT parent. I would actually assume that other IT parents would welcome that discussion as part of the school listserve, vs. on this forum, where we all know how school discussions can get pretty out of hand.

Teachers are the heart and soul of a school and if you know that certain beloved or effective teachers are leaving that is relevant information. I have nothing to do with IT. Just annoyed by other people being annoyed that parents want to be as informed as they can be. What the PPs' responses tell me is that there MUST BE some sort of staffing issues at IT...otherwise, why so aggresive with your responses?
