Just buy it. You'll save money, and save installation/removal/replacement hassle.
If you want to test-drive different models, do that in the store, or try them at a few different gyms.
We have a Precor EFX and love it.

There's a company in Seattle...but they only work around there.
Why do you want to rent with an option to buy? To decide if you like a particular model?

Well, until I went with the erg I was looking at refurbed gym elliptical which were like $1kish. I didn't think to rent so no advice there.

That's an interesting suggestion- I totally agree, but as a rower for almost 16 years my concept II days are OVER.
Thanks... any suggestions as to what price range I'd be looking at to rent elliptical?

I looked into this and ended up buying a Concept 2 rowing machine instead. Arguably better exercise (more muscle groups) than an elliptical and a simpler machine making an even top line new erg much cheaper than an elliptical.

I'd like to rent an elliptical machine for a couple months... anyone know what cost-range we are talking about or have suggestions regarding places I could do this? I'd be particularly interested in an option to buy at the end...
