Heh, at my neighborhood pool, anyone over the age of 5 who poops in the pool is banned for life.

Last time we went to Wilson, I saw the poop in the pool as we were getting out. Maybe someone who wasn't wearing a diaper pooped? It wasn't everywhere or anything, didn't look like it had 'escaped' from a diaper (sorry, gross).

We do the same. The iPlay diapers hold poop in well (sadly, I have experience). We didn't even notice until we were out of the pool--nothing "came out." No swim diaper is going to hold in pee, so wait until you get to the pool to change into it. I like iPlays because they have a tiny bit of absorbancy, so if my kid pees a little, it won't drain right through. With disposables, it's like holding a piece of cloth under the faucet.

I did plastic pants over the iPlay for our first class last year and saw that nobody else was using them, so I stopped.

This is kind of off topic, but if DC DPR has such rules, why is Wilson Pool always closed for poop in the pool? Do they then close the pool after someone poops (in the swim diaper)? I'm just curious what the procedure is. Anyone know?

Clearly, you have never had a baby poop in the tub. Being in water is no guarantee against pooping, I can assure you.

We use a swim diaper (i-play or other reusable one) with baby swim suit over it. We've never been questioned, and never had poop to deal with. I think babies generally know where they can poop (in a diaper), so if they're in the water, they won't go? Hopefully!!

Both in a public pool.

so - DC DPR says: Infants/children not toilet trained and incontinent adults must wear swim suit diapers or snug plastic pants under their swim suits. Diapers (cloth and disposable) are prohibited.

So - i guess I can do either a disposable swim diaper or the re-usable iplay type thing...I'm with 13:42 - daily pooping done? She's only 5 months old...so, your guess is as good as mine, especially with solids in the mix

So is an iplay swim diaper the same as plastic pants, or do pants cover more? This is a requirement of swim classes I'm taking and I'm totally confused.

"The day's poop?" Ha. I wish my toddler only pooped once a day. Or at least that she pooped less than 3-4 times a day.

don't use a regular diaper in a pool. it explodes. swim diapers only hold in poop, but try to make sure your child does not do this if possible (like talk to them about it if they are old enough and otherwise wait to swim until after you know the day's poop has come or something).

To my knowledge, DC pools require a swim diaper and plastic pants. We use a disposable swim diaper and an iPlay-type pant over that.

I have limited experience, but I like the reusable ones best. The disposable ones are too easy for my toddler to rip off.

My understanding is the goal for all of them is to hold in poo, but not pee, is that right? (Gross!) Do any actually hold pee?

I'm confused - what is the difference between a disposable swim diaper, a re-usable swim diaper and plastic pants over a regular diaper..how does it work and what do most public pools allow? Any preferences?
