I just want to rebuild and repair my muscle strength.
No, a tummy tuck is just cosmetic. I don't care so much about that, but I would like to rebuild my core strength.
If you have abdominal separation from having kids, a tummy tuck is the only thing that can fix that. Your post title talks about "getting rid of the baby pooch," which refers to some protrusion of the stomach, either fat or because the abs have separated. Doing ab exercises alone will not help either. But if ab strength is indeed all you're talking about, you might be able to get that back just through core exercises.

OP you need to be sure you do not have a separate of your muscles. If you do, ab work will only make it worse. The only correction in this case is surgery. I have a separation of my muscles and as a result, my stomach sticks out at my belly button and higher. I saw a PT and she gave me some special exercises to help as well as a special belt to hold my stomach together. Overtime, though, I realized I would always need to hold my stomach in. I don't have extra flab or skin, just a separation in my muscles.
