I take it daily during allergy season, so about 2 months out of the year. My doctor was the one who recommended that I take it as needed throughout allergy season. I take it in the mornings and I can definitely tell when I wake up the next morning whether I'll need it. Then I'm off it for about 10 months or so.

For long term use (I would say about 2-3 months), you should consult with your doctor.

My dr has me taking it year round. One thing that my dr has told me as well is not to take allergy medicine when you have a cold.

Yes, I know I should ask my doctor this question so let's get that out of the way .
Is it safe to take one Claritin D a day for an on-going period? I have allergies and a cold and Claritin D really helps, but I generally don't take it every day. Wondering if I can, safely, because of the decongestant element. TIA for any thoughts on this!
