If you need appliance repair, we've used VIA Appliance (out of Beltsville I believe) and they've been great every time. One time, they needed a part ordered, so they had it shipped directly to us, and one of their people was tracking it on UPS, and called as soon as it arrived so they could schedule a service person to come the next day. That's service!

Get a used machine on Craigslist, at least you can catch up on laundry. The Bray and Scarf in Columbia had one nice salesperson, Plus they have a scratch and dent outlet in Laurel where the stuff is real cheap. Bought a fridge from them recently (refused to buy service plan)---pray it doesn't break cause their service sounds lousy. on the other hand, had a 2008 pricey dishwasher, bought on sale at sears that broke-was out of warranty, called their repair service, they sold me a plan for $229, fixed the dishwasher the next day, will cover any additional service for one year, and I have clean dishes. (estimates to repair for other places was $300 -$550-so not a bad deal).

Sears screwed us taking nearly 6 weeks to fix our washer/dryer.

Where do people buy from once you've been screwed?

And I thought it taking us 12 days to get a washer/dryer was dreadful. Thankfully we have tons of clothing but the piles of laundry were awful. Good luck!

My dearly departed mother used to call them " Barf and Scarf." She died over 12 years ago, so yeah, they've always sucked.

Sears totally screwed us at one point; I wrote a scathing letter to the entire board of directors/ officers and distributed via email and snail mail.

I got my money refunded for the entire machine.

Try a good old fashioned nasty letter to everyone involved in running that business. Hopefully you'll at least get some monetary relief.

We used B&S for appliances in our old house. They totally suck! When we moved, we were sure to buy appliances elsewhere.

I can't tell you the number of times it has been easier to buy something new rather than wait for B&S. They subcontract out the service to people who have NO IDEA what they are doing, and there is always a huge wait. Check out your neighborhood listserv for better repair ideas, and don't fall for the B&S warranty ever again. We don't even buy from them anymore. Most the time they are not even competitive and want to charge for delivery on top of it!

We stopped by there to look at appliances (for a kitchen reno) and I have to say the salesmen were so unfriendly/unhelpful that there was no chance we'd buy there, but sorry to hear about your experience OP-- good luck!

Treat yourself -- take it all to a place that will wash and dry it for you. There's one in Bethesda on River Road very close to the intersection with Little Falls Parkway.

I feel you OP. the best for me was when I got a call the day of my scheduled appointment (which I had waited over a week for) telling me they had over scheduled so couldn't get to my house that day then told me I would have to reschedule for the next available which was another 5 days. Then when they come they have to order the part anyway. Just call the manufacturer at this point ant see if they can get factory service out faster if its under warranty.

I am soooo done with them. I bought from them for the promise of service and have been burned multiple times. The above was just the worst. Additionally my top of the line maytag dryer from them is a total lemon and they did nothing.

Lowe's will deliver a washing machine the next day.
