1. I would guess it's probably rosacea. It's common in Irish and Scots.
2. Could be menopause -- hormones can cause skin temps to rise and temporary red cheeks.
3. Could be lupus.

Agree with PP that you should either see your family doctor or a dermatologist.

I wear Bobbi Brown foundation...and by 2pm my cheeks are red. It's embarrassing. I am in my early 40's, Irish pale skin with dark brown hair. Willing to buy any makeup and/or cream that will help. Thinking it's a makeup issue that I need to address. Maybe I need wear powder also? Any suggestions?
