I'd vote to wait one more year.
We went at 3.5 and 5. This is the earliest I would have taken them, due to height restrictions for the older one, stamina (both), and no diapers to change.
Last year, we took them to Sesame and they had a blast!

I love Disney just as much as my children, so anytime is a good time for me. Since this won't be your only trip, I say go for it. It will help you get familiar with everything the parks have to offer so that when the children are older, you can have a better idea of what they can do.

I would go the year right before the oldest starts kindergarten. This way you can go in one of the less crowded times and have a pleasant trip. We went this year in very late January.
I would never want to contemplate this trip during school vacations.

I wouldn't bother at such a young age. They're too young to spend the day what with all that napping and too young to remember it for more than a few months. Save your money and time (and patience) and go in three years.

I went with a 2.5yo and had a great time, but partly because we could focus on his needs/interests. I suspect with 2 young kids the hassle/fun ratio (for the parents) would make me want to wait until the youngest one was just a little older. Try and do it before pulling the older one from school is problematic, though- lower crowds makes everything so much more enjoyable (and cheaper). As does planning: you don't need to plan every hour of the trip, but just knowing which day to hit which park, which rides to prioritize and which won't have lines even at noon, where to find the foods your kids like, etc, will make everything more enjoyable. Usually when people tell me they hated their Disney trip it turns out they showed up in July or spring break (peak seasons) with no prior research.

We went last year around this time with a 2 year old and a 4 year old--2 year old was 2 and a few months and 4 year old was a few months shy of 5. We had a blast. We were there for opening every morning, left after eating lunch, napped in our room (even DH and I and the grandparents), then went back to the parks around 4:30, and left for the evening around 7:00 or 7:30 (one night we stayed for the parade). The bonus of the 2 year old of course is that he/she is free. Last week I was dealing with typical 3 year old shenanigans, which I find to be worse than 2 year old shenanigans, and thought to myself that I was glad we had done Disney at 2 rather than 3.

Its fine, but for this age, you'd be better off sticking to Dutch Wonderland or Sesame Place, and wait a year or two on Disney. Not that they won't enjoy Disney, just a lot of it will be lost on them, and it is a pretty significant investment.

I took my 2yr old and it's fine. Just be aware of their limitations. We only went to the park in the morning and the evening. We only did MK and we never left Fantasy Land. We had lunch in the park or at the hotel and then had naps. Then we woke up and went swimming. Then dinner. Then back to the park for an hour or so and into bed. The worst is when you see parents screaming at their kids who are melting down that they better enjoy this trip. It obvious that the kids are tired and want to rest. Just don't overdo it and you'll be fine.

OP here, I don't think this will be our only trip. I also considered sesame place, the website looks fun.

My cousin went right before her 3rd b-day and has absolutely no recollection of the trip at all. If you don't plan to return, I would wait. Go to Sesame Place!

3 year olds aren't free at Disney.

Do you see this as a once in their childhood trip, or the first of several?
I think a 2 and 4 year old could have lots of fun at Disney, but if I was going just once I'd wait until they old enough to last for a full day, and tall enough to ride most of the rides. We went with a 6 and 10 year old for our first trip and that was a good age, although the 10 year old was on the young side. I might choose 5 and 7 or 6 and 8.

Why the rush?

We have a 4 and a 2yr old, LO still in diapers and takes long 3 hr naps, 4 yr old is also started up 2 hour naps. Not sure if they are too young, if we should wait till next year for
all of us to really enjoy it.
What would you do? Did you take your kids at this age? Do you wish you would have waited?
