My DD was accepted to/will attend another independent school in the area, but I've been hearing lately that these two schools in particular lowered their standards big time this year - any info? Friends with a DS in elementary are thinking of sidwell later down the line but obviously will go another direction if there is anything unsavory happening. Also, why didn't all the schools do early admission? I thought it wasn't allowed?

Nothing about either student stands out -- I would describe both as very average in all areas. When I heard they were going to Maret, I remember thinking, Maret's admission standards must not be so high, at least this year, so maybe OP is not off the mark.
