I went to one once and left even though I had pre paid. The room was full of attractive women and then a few nerdy unattractive guys. I would have been one to meeting the guys but didnt feel like elbowing aside twenty other women to do so. Men should totally go to these things!! They are full of women. And I have loads of attractive female friends who go to this stuff. Meeting people is tough, ESP once you are over 30 and thus there are less parties, etc, to go to. When I was younger I met guys at parties but now hardly any of my friends throw parties.

OK, Dr. Feelgood, not OP, but I'll bite. (OP do you mind if I play? ). Going to be vague on some of the demographics for anonymity, but here you go:

1. Age - 37
2. Weight/dress size/height: 115 lbs, 5'2".
3. Three shows or movies you like. Shows: The Office, Law & Order. Movie: Empire of the Sun.
4. Books you are reading: The Whole Brain Child, The Woman Upstairs, We Need to Talk About Kevin (very different from the movie and a great read).
5. Activities you do with your kids the most: LO is a new walker. We wrestle on "the big bed", go to the park, cuddle and read books.
6. Line of work: Publishing.
7. Home state and rough geographic location of the city (i.e. northern california): Midwest.
8. Your favorite dish - something you order when you go out, not make at home: A nice rare steak, a good glass of red wine.
9. Where you would like to retire: Near family, mine or his, hopefully both, hopefully on the coast. Any coast will do.
10.Where you would prefer your children go to college and a degree you'd like them to have: Somewhere big enough that they find their voice and small enough that they won't get lost. Somewhere reasonably priced would help, as I plan to have the same deal with them that my parents had for us: Undergrad, we pay. Grad, you pay. Their degree: one that helps them write clearly, think critically, and that challenges their beliefs. Hopefully will lead to a job, but if not, the prospect of self-financing the grad degree tends to add a dose of practicality to the situation.

I didn't date him at all! He was the first one I met in the little switch-every-three-minutes meeting. I have higher standards than that.

Haha! OP here. That's what I suspected. Sigh. I am not trying to be egotistical but I am told I am a very attractive woman. When I go out I tend to get hit on by 20-somethings, and that is not what I am looking for.

My issue is that I work from home, have my kid the vast majority of the time, and haven't had a lot of success meeting quality men online. I am trying to think outside of the box and do something I haven't already tried! But maybe this isn't it.

A friend suggested I try this on a weekend...I am kind of terrified at the prospect, but I guess I could give it a go.

Has anyone had any experiences, positive or negative?

On the website, it seems they are always looking for men to fill up the spaces. (I'm a woman)

Seems a little discouraging from the get-go.
