Many bushes have shallow roots near the surface so be careful when you dig them up that you don't rebury them too deeply. And wait until after a flowering bush blooms before moving it.

Did you plant the bushes and do you know what they are. Many people plant their bushes too close together and you have to end up digging some of them up or chopping some of them down.

If they are azaleas, they can be cut back to 6" (add fertilizer) and they will regrow fine.

I have several shrubs that are growing together to make a giant multi-cultural mega shrub. Do I try to remove the ones that are being buried by faster growing ones, and re-plant them elsewhere? Do I try to cut all of them back into their own individual shape and make them look separated again (not sure if this is possible)? They are two or three different species that looked great together, but are now just merging into the one mass. At least they are successfully blocking out weeds in my beds.
