He's likely an FDA employee. Most physicians who work for the FDA are encouraged to maintain clinical practice for 1 or half day per week.

He might teach or be semi-retired and chooses to work part-time.

There are no other offices, the specialty doesn't lend itself to procedures and I don't get any published papers in pubmed.

Does he do surgeries or research the other days? Or is he in a different office the other days?

You can see that appts are only available one day a week in the online scheduling tool.

My DC sees a number of specialists, some of whom have limited patient hours because they are active researchers, which is reflected in a google search (and confirmed in conversations with them--they acknowledge getting appts is difficult and explain why). One of the specialists my kid sees is a great guy and so far has turned out to be a good clinician but I can't help but wonder what he does with the rest of his time. You can see that appts are only available one day a week and he actually uses another person's office to see patients. He appears to have no support staff and does not appear to be employed elsewhere (I'm aware that physicians can work in all sorts of set-ups). Part of me wonders how he can keep up with his field working one day a week and I have trouble shaking the feeling that something doesn't add up yet he's great with my kid and I love the ease of getting in touch with him. What's more there are not a whole lot of specialists in this field in this area. Can anyone relate? Have you experienced something similar?
