OP here, THANK YOU! That's exactly what I thought. I mean, I -paid- for those, and I definitely don't want to redo them "just because".

I had to go get my x-rays from Georgetown U Hospital recently. No problems with it and no charge. I have a high deductible health plan so I paid for those x-rays and sure didn't want to pay again for someone else to do them. Nor do I want to subject myself to more radiation than required.

All radiological exams can be put on a CD. You will have to pay for them but they are part of your medical record. Call and ask to speak to the office manager. If the xray was not physically done on premises, go where it was done and ask for a copy.

They aren't required to give them to you, but are required to provide a copy and may charge a reasonable cost for making the copy.

I don't know the answer but am also curious to hear- I was just thinking of this re transferring dental records.

So, I just had x-rays done at a new doctor's office. When done, I asked to have them because I will soon move, and always carry all our family's medical records with us. They refused, saying they didn't have the ability to copy them and couldn't give them to me because, if audited, they needed to show them as proof of what was billed.
Is this correct? I paid for those, and don't want to have to redo them in a few months, for nothing. Any suggestions?
